Last month, I was a highlighted artist at Real Pro gallery for their Art Night. I did not realize how much artwork I had in general, I almost cleared out my studio and I still have a bunch of work.

Curating the show, I mixed old pieces, with a small new collection, that serves as a “prequel” to my newest collection that will be releasing in October. I made 10-12 smaller scale pieces in one week. I worked full days and then went to sleep the next day and even pulled a few all nighters preparing the show. It was so worth it! And I hosted a raffle for the artwork in the second slide, and two smaller pieces.

Thank you to everyone who came and showed support! it meant so much to me, and I am so happy I got to share my art (that may have been collecting dust in the studio) with you all! I received my flowers for the first time at an art gallery thanks to @_leonortav 💙. My heart still feels so full almost months later. I am so grateful for everyone who came and interacted with me and my art ☺️

“Swirling in Soli-Sponge” captures the solitary journey of self-discovery amidst the vibrant depths of the coral reef. As the diver descends into the swirling depths alone, the tubular sponge coral symbolizes the individual’s introspective confrontation within their inner thoughts and emotions during the quest of “Looking Inwards.”

Currently being on displayed at the Block Island Airport.

The fusion of frenetic energy and the velocity of the mind coalesce, offering a glimpse into the complex, transient nature of our cognitive tapestry. It’s where our ideas, thoughts, and feelings spark, collide, and dissipate in a moment, creating this constant flow of momentum in our heads.

It’s interesting to see the many phases this piece went through, as the final result perfectly captured what my experience was like while I was working on it 😭

It Feels Like New Beginnings, 54” x 66” acrylic, spray paint, and oil pastel on canvas.

This month, I’ve been creating more expressive pieces, and just free styling basically. I’m doing a mini collection set of 3 of these, all in the same size 🤩 I’ve been thinking about making some smaller ones too…

These three pieces will be the first completed pieces in months…the last few months of last year-was just a bunch of scrapped artwork. Nothing felt or looked right. It was frustrating. I was mourning for the world, not feeling like myself, and going through so many changes last year- that it showed through my work and I wasn’t happy with what I was making.

While navigating my frustrations throughout my creative processes from the past few months, I decided to just throw paint at the wall and call it a day. Little did I know how freeing it would be, to temporarily come out of my head. Somehow, this pieces feels like a celebration of moving forward, and I did that by merging several of my favorite techniques that I’ve used in my past paintings — from dripping watercolor effects and graffiti-inspired spray paint to scribble oil pastel line-work with a majestic touch of iridescent flakes. After time continuously looking at the piece, I feel like I captured a moment of profound release and a moment of progression. The cascading waterfall of dripping paint symbolizes a transformative surge, surrounded by upward brushstrokes resembling floating rocks. Looking at this, feels like a visual journey through frustration, mourning, and readiness to embrace a forward trajectory, much like a chaotic but purposeful therapy session in a world of vibrant colors. I’m ready for change, and I’m ready to move forward 💙

since my work is always improvised, I rarely ever use my sketchbooks. I’ve filled countless sketchbooks before, but within the past couple of years, I’ve basically stopped using them and go straight onto canvas and wood.

This year I wanted to change that. it’s not meant for me to spend too much time on, just a quick 10mins to kickstart my brain before painting. Hopefully this will help me generate my ideas a bit better so I won’t struggle trying to finish any paintings - even if I don’t go with the end result. I guess this will be a trial run to see if it will keep me more focused and allow me organize my thoughts a bit better. Basically it’s meant to see which colors work well together, map out my thoughts, and jot down my to-do list ~

a lot of it will be thumbnail chicken scratch sketches, and not that cutesy aesthetic you see reels of. like I said, these are fast sketches bc I need to keep up with how fast my brain is 😭

since my work is always improvised, I rarely ever use my sketchbooks. I’ve filled countless sketchbooks before, but within the past couple of years, I’ve basically stopped using them and go straight onto canvas and wood.

This year I wanted to change that. it’s not meant for me to spend too much time on, just a quick 10mins to kickstart my brain before painting. Hopefully this will help me generate my ideas a bit better so I won’t struggle trying to finish any paintings - even if I don’t go with the end result. I guess this will be a trial run to see if it will keep me more focused and allow me organize my thoughts a bit better. Basically it’s meant to see which colors work well together, map out my thoughts, and jot down my to-do list ~

a lot of it will be thumbnail chicken scratch sketches, and not that cutesy aesthetic you see reels of. like I said, these are fast sketches bc I need to keep up with how fast my brain is 😭

This is one of the more simpler pieces from the collection, “Looking Inwards”. I was inspired by the pattern of a brain coral here!

This piece embodies the cerebral duality, capturing the dichotomy between the left and right brain hemispheres—the logical monochrome juxtaposed against the vibrant spectrum of imagination.

The larger, colorful hemisphere represents the expansiveness and creativity of the right brain—the realm of intuition, emotion, and artistic expression. On the other side, the smaller black and white hemisphere embodies the precision and logic associated with the left brain—critical thinking, analysis, and structure.

This has been my favorite place, my safe space, and my second home - It’s been a wonderful 3 years here. I was able to accomplish so many things that I didn’t think I was able to do. This place holds so much warmth in my heart, because it was where everything started. I took a leap of faith on myself, and I will continue to do so 🤩 I’m excited for the next chapter in my life. This doesn’t mean that I will stop creating though!
This gives me an opportunity to go do other things I want to try as well (like traveling). For now, I’ll be creating remotely until I get another studio sometime in the future ⭐️

This smaller painting explores the transition between “Fading Vibrancy” and “Colorless Echoes”. This one is a bridge between the two, capturing the moment when the mind is vibrant and obscured by the mist of introspection. I like to call this a moment of “brain fog”. This is an ambiguous state in which happens before a thought or feeling becomes clear or empty.

The brain coral, symbolizing the intricate networks of the mind collaborates with the ghost-like fishes swimming through a haze of a school of fish. These fishes are the clear thoughts navigating through the fog of a million thoughts throughout the emptiness.

As the coral reef bleaches into pristine white, the symbolism extends beyond its contours, echoing the emptiness experienced when the mask we wear to display external vibrancy fades away. It is a moment of introspective vulnerability, a close encounter with the void that can leave one feeling drained and lifeless, much like the bleached coral.

The coral's fading vibrancy symbolizes the ephemeral nature of appearances, while the void of color alludes to the introspective moments when the true self surfaces from beneath the mask. The internal feel of being “void of color”.
Amidst this profound exploration of inner and outer narratives, 'Fading Vibrancy' holds a mirror to the somber reality of coral reefs, echoing their plight as they too face the ravages of climate change. Through the interplay of vibrant and void, this artwork serves as a tribute and a call to action, urging us to witness the fragility of nature and reflect on our role in its preservation.
This pieces urges us to recognize the connection between our outward expressions and the quieter currents of our inner depths.
