About The Artist
Fior De La Cruz (b. 1997) is a Dominican-American emerging artist and creative based in Rhode Island. She graduated with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Marketing from Johnson & Wales University in 2019. Her work has been exhibited throughout New England, including the Providence Art Club, the Pitcher-Goff House, No Mind Gallery, and Spring Bull Gallery in Newport. In 2024, she was featured as a guest artist for Gallery Night Providence.
Fior creates vibrant, intuitive paintings that glow under UV black light, transforming familiar spaces into dreamlike environments. Each piece is built through spontaneous movement and layered color, guided by emotion rather than plan. Her process is deeply personal—part reflection, part release—and acts as both mirror and escape.
Light plays a central role in Fior’s practice, serving as a bridge between the viewer and the work. The use of UV-reactive paint invites interaction, awakening a sense of wonder and nostalgia. Viewers are encouraged to explore the pieces with handheld blacklights, uncovering hidden details that shift with perspective. This interactivity becomes a metaphor for memory—how moments change depending on how we look at them.
Her work explores the tension between joy and disillusionment, beauty and chaos. While the colors radiate warmth and playfulness, each composition holds an undertone of introspection and contradiction. Fior fuses abstract expressionism with street art techniques, weaving together elements of mood, movement, and emotional depth to evoke connection.
At its core, her practice is an act of human permission—to feel deeply, to question freely, and to find grace in imperfection.
Through her work, Fior hopes to remind people that we are all just humans living our first life, deserving of gentleness, curiosity, and moments of lighthearted joy.
